What is the Best Way to Put Window Tint on Your Car?

There are many ways to apply window tint to your car. However, there are some steps you can follow. These steps are Preparation, Cleaning and Cutting, as well as Installation. Once you have completed these steps, your tint will be installed.

Preparation

First, prepare the window with soap and water. This will ensure that the window tint adheres to the glass surface. The next step is to cut the window tint square. Cut along the edges of the window tint square. Do not cut on the rounded side.

Before you begin, ensure that you have all the tools and materials you need. It is a good idea that you park in a well-lit area, away from any pollution. This will prevent dust and sand from getting under the tint. Once you’re done with this step, it’s time to begin the tinting process.

Next, clean the inside of your window. To remove any water, it is a good idea using a squeegee/card. Then, spray the tint solution on the inside of your window. You’ll also need to remove any liner film. It is important to remove the liner film carefully so that it doesn’t tear.

Cleaning

Window tint should be cleaned with a soft, non-scratchable cloth. A microfiber cloth is an option. Make sure you don’t overspray the cleaner and avoid paper towels because they tend to leave lint and streaks. Abrasive products can also damage the film.

Ammonia is the most common cleaning solution for tinted windows. This can cause damage to the protective film. Avoid using abrasive sponges or scrub mitts as these will reduce the clarity of your tint. If you must clean your windows with a cloth, use warm water and soft cloths.

Allow window tint to cure for seven to thirty days before you clean it. The tint’s life expectancy will be reduced if you clean it before it dries.

Cutting

When cutting window tint, there are a few things you should know. First, use a sharp knife. You should cut the film as close the window edge as you can. Also, be sure to stay away from the rubber trim around the window. This can cause leaks in your car.

You can hire a professional to cut your tint if you’re not comfortable doing it yourself. This option can save you lots of time. Although a plotter can cut tint to fit your windows perfectly, it won’t be as precise as hand-cutting film. In addition, you’ll be able to make sure that the film fits exactly on your windows.

The blade force is another important consideration when cutting window tint. You should set the blade force lower than what you’d need to cut sign vinyl. If you set it too high, you’ll end up with uneven cuts and less uniformity. Likewise, if you set it too low, you won’t be able to cut through the material. It is important to always have a spare strip of material.

Installing

If you’re considering installing window tint on your car, there are a few tips that can help you ensure a professional installation. First, make sure the window tint you are applying is the correct size. The wrong size will cause the film to bubble and become distorted. To avoid making mistakes, it’s a good idea that you follow the installation instructions.

Once you have determined the exact size, cut your window film to fit. You should leave at least 1/16 in. of overhang on the top side to prevent bubbles. Next, place the film on the window, leaving a 1/16-inch space on each side. Once it’s in place, use the tint squeegee to gently push out any air or water bubbles from underneath. Once you are done, apply the application solution.

Aside from aesthetics, window tinting can also reduce energy bills. It reduces the amount of heat entering a home, allowing for a cooler temperature all year round. Additionally, it protects your family from harmful UV rays. And if you’re renting out your home, installing window film on your windows will make your tenants more comfortable.
